The Discovery of Flight Foundation is a proud sponsor of the exhibit The Wright Experience: Five Challenges to Flight, on display at teh Centennial PAvilion, Wright Brothers National Memorial, Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina. The exhibit traces the scientific process of the Wright brothers as they invent the airplane. It opened to the public December 12, 2003, and has been seen by thousands of visitors since. It has become an integral part of the Park's interpretive program.
The exhibit features reproduction artifacts, including an operable engine, wind tunnel, flyable 1902 Glider, and more built by the Wright Experience. Five touchscreen kiosks feature in-depth descriptions and detailed images and video of the Wright brothers machines in construction and in flight.
Other contributers to the exhibit included the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau, Bombardier, and the Virginia Aeronautical Historical Society. The exhibit was produced by Cognitive Applications, Inc, designed by Arch-etal, Inc., and fabricated by Point Concepts Design.
