OUR PROJECTS

The Discovery of Flight Foundation's projects are all based in research and dedicated to education and inspiration. We work closely with museums, schools, and parks to create engaging, interactive experiences that demosntrate the fundamentals of innovative thinking.

Please contact us if you are interested in pursuing a project based in early flight (pre-1912) with education as its goal. Our previous and current partners include:

1910 Transitional Model A/B in Flight
1910 Transitional Model A/B in Flight

1910 Transitional Model A/B was the aircraft Orville Wright took to Montgomery, Alabama in the late winter of 1910 to use as a trianer in the first US civilian flying school. It was later flown by the Wright exhibition team across the United States. The reproduction wil be built for the Wright Brothers/Maxwell Field Museum, a new museum being planned adjacent to Maxwell Air Force Base. The project includes the following:

  • Public Celebrations in Montgomery, Alabama, 2010 (dates TBD)
  • Flight testing program, 2010
  • Permanent, interactive, educational display at the Wright Brothers/Maxwell Field Museum

Sponsorship is needed to bring this project to completion! Sponsors will be recognized in our musuem displays - and more events are bening planned for the Flyer for 2010. Please contact us for more information about this outstanding opportunity.
