 1909 Military Flyer in Flight
The 1909 MIlitary Flyer was the airplane the Wrights used in their return to Fort Myer, Virginia following the fatal crash of 1908. It was taken to College Park, Maryland, where Wilbur Wright trained the first Army officers to fly. College Park's outstanding aviation museum has requested this Flyer as the centerpiece for their expansion, as a celebration of their Centennial in 2009. The project includes the following:
- Public Celebrations at Fort Myer, Virginia, and College Park, Maryland, 2009 (dates TBD)
- Flight testing program, 2009
- Permanent, interactive, educational display at the College Park Aviation Museum
Sponsorship is needed to bring this project to completion! Sponsors will be recognized in our musuem displays - and more events are bening planned for the Flyer for 2009. Please contact us for more information about this outstanding opportunity.
